Tips

Preparing Files for Processing

  • Check that you include all the fonts you have used in the job, including any used in EPS files.
  • Check you include all the files in the job, including linked EPS and TIFF files.
  • In Quark Xpress don't place TIFF's in a frame with the background set to none, you'll get jagged edges. If you want it deep etched do it in Photoshop and save it as an EPS.
  • If your job contains Duotones make sure you change the screen angles for the colours in the application you're outputting it from or let us know there are Duotones in the job.
  • Scanning

  • The resolution you should scan halftones (greyscale, colour) at should be twice the screen ruling (e.g. for a 150lpi screen you should scan at 300dpi). For line art scan at up to the output resolution (e.g. 2540dpi).
  • Make sure you convert any RGB scans into CMYK before you send them to us or you'll end up with black and white (or worse) pictures in your job.
  • Digital Cameras - make sure your camera first is suitable for high quality reproduction for printing. Resolution should be 300dpi and supplied in a CYMK format.
